What a season Celtic have had, a real resurgence by a team that looked tired and out of ideas at the start of the season. In the this spotlight series we will look at some of the main players in what would turn out to be a succesful campaign where Celtic would secure the double and get oh so close to a famous treble.

He may not be ours for keeps but if he leaves at the end of the season he will have left a lasting impression on the Celtic support. A relative unknown when he joined on-loan from Man City, young Jason Denayer has been a revelation at Celtic Park.

Sweeping Celtic young player of the year along with Scottish players young player of the year he certainly has gained admirers in the Scottish game and beyond.

During his time with Celtic this season he has linked up with centre back partner Virgil van Dijk to form a formidable partnership at the heart of Celtic’s defence. His pace, ability to read the game and his overall solid defending has been a joy to watch this season. Rarely looking flustered the City loanee has shined in a hoops jersey. He managed to earn a call up to the full Belgium squad due to his performances with the bhoys.

Celtic would love to have the defender back on-loan for another season but it looks increasingly unlikely with the English club looking to send him out on-loan to experience another league.

Whoever is brought in to replace him will have some big shoes to fill.

Hail Hail Jason Denayer!
