As we reported last month Celtic have been keeping an eye on Man City defender Dedryck Boyata and according to reports this afternoon Celtic have firmed up their interest in the player.

It’s believed Ronny Deila and Peter Lawwell spoke to the player and his representatives yesterday about signing for Celtic this summer.

Dedryck has found first team opportunities hard to come by at the Etihad and is reportedly ready to move on in search of first team football. His current City deal end in the summer of 2016 so a don’t be surprised if Celtic look to go down the loan route.

Celtic face the challenge of replacing his Man City teammate Jason Denayer who is set to go back to City in the summer with a second loan looking unlikely.

The 24 year-old defender would fit the mould of a strong, sturdy and calm centre back. With the clock ticking on next seasons Champions qualifiers already, it seems Celtic are looking to do their business as early as possible.
